Since its inception in 2003, Nutrition and Education International (NEI) has been at the forefront of combatting protein-energy malnutrition in Afghanistan, focusing particularly on the most vulnerable groups: women and children. Our mission has led to the creation of a robust soy value chain that not only addresses nutritional deficiencies but also fosters economic development and sustainability.
With a network of 11 state-of-the-art soy food processing factories, established in partnership with local entrepreneurs, NEI is transforming the agricultural landscape. These factories, alongside our pioneering soybean and poultry demonstration farms, serve as beacons of innovation and quality, meticulously designed to meet and surpass both local and international standards under the expert guidance of NEI's technical team. This team, boasting over a century of collective experience, includes engineers and food technologists with prestigious backgrounds, including tenure at Nestle International, ensuring that every initiative we undertake is grounded in excellence and expertise.
Recognizing the critical importance of quality assurance in the food industry, NEI launched a specialized technical services program. This initiative is dedicated to supporting the burgeoning food processing sector within Afghanistan by offering unparalleled food product testing services. This program benefits a wide range of stakeholders, from food processors and academic circles to R&D labs, government entities, NGOs, and import-export businesses, cementing NEI's role as a cornerstone of technical excellence in Afghanistan's agricultural, food processing, and testing sectors.
Through our sustained investment in infrastructure, scientific research, and community engagement, NEI is not just fighting malnutrition; we are building a future where Afghanistan's agricultural and food sectors thrive on innovation, quality, and sustainability. Join us in this journey towards a healthier, more prosperous Afghanistan.
